Hydrogels are 3D polymeric networks, consisting of crosslinked polymers that can swell but do not dissolve in water. This structure allows effective immobilization and release of active substances, biomolecules or cells.
The release rate can be tuned to specific therapeutic applications by adjusting the molecular structure of the polymers used. Most hydrogel materials are injectable or can be applied topically or as coatings for implants.
i+Med uses biocompatible and biodegradable polymers, sterilizable, with scalable processes and under GMP manufacture.
