The Personalized Medicine Classroom of i+Med, resulting from the collaboration between the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) and i+Med, celebrates the first edition of the i+Med Awards, aimed at recognizing and rewarding the best Bachelor’s Thesis (TFG) presented during the 2023-2024 academic year.

Purpose of the Awards, Participation Requirements, and Evaluation Criteria:

Objective of the Awards
These awards aim to highlight and foster academic excellence and innovation in research related to the areas of the Personalized Medicine Classroom of i+Med. Areas of interest include:

  • Research and development of new drug delivery systems, focusing on controlled release.
  • Methodologies and work lines in the processes of development of medical devices and drugs based on quality assurance.
  • Application of digitalization and artificial intelligence in healthcare and health research processes.
  • Development of innovative solutions to improve the monitoring of specific health issues.
  • Pharmacotherapeutic resource management focused on value and innovation.
  • Research and development of hydrogels.
  • Advanced therapies and regenerative medicine research.
  • Development of innovative solutions in microfluidics.
  • Point of care testing research and applications.
  • Methodologies and development of drugs and/or medical devices through bioprinting.
  • Research in the field of nutraceuticals.

Prizes

  • First prize: €450
  • Second prize: €250

Participation Requirements

  1. Must have defended and passed a Bachelor’s Thesis at the Faculty of Pharmacy at UPV/EHU during the 2023-2024 academic year, with a minimum grade of 8.5.
  2. The work must be related to the research areas of the Personalized Medicine Classroom of i+Med.
  3. Submissions can be in Basque, Spanish, or English.

Evaluation Criteria and Jury
The jury, composed of three members (one appointed by the Vice-rectorate for Scientific-Social Development and Transfer, one from the Faculty of Pharmacy Dean’s Office, and one researcher from the International Institute of Intelligent Nanohydrogels created by i+Med, external to the i+Med Classroom of UPV/EHU), representatives from UPV/EHU and i+Med, will evaluate the submissions based on:

  • Scientific and technical quality, including clear objectives, appropriate methodology, and precision in results.
  • Innovation and relevance, assessing the impact and applicability of the findings.
  • Contribution to the i+Med Personalized Medicine Classroom and its objectives.
